ONCALL is currently seeking compassionate and experienced Disability Support Workers to join our SIL team and work in the Northern areas of Caboolture, Burpengary and Beachmere.
About the Role
Supporting our clients requires an empathetic approach, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to communicate very clearly. You will be supported by an experienced team leader and have access to additional training to manage the complexities of this role.
How Will I Help?
These shifts will involve supporting our clients by providing daily assistance in a shared home or individual residence, allowing them to live as independently as possible. This will include personal care, administration of medication, meal preparation, manual handling, help with routines, community access and support with household tasks. Supports may be required across a 24/7 roster and will vary depending on the person’s needs, goals and preferences.
What Do I Need?
- Previous experience in a similar Disability Support Worker role, including working in a SIL environment
- Recognised Disability qualifications
- Experience and confidence supporting clients with complex needs, including dysphagia, epilepsy, diabetes, stoma care, hoisting and HIPDA-related requirements
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experience supporting people with different communication needs, including sign language, would be an advantage
- Positive behaviour support experience
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check and Blue Card
- Current First Aid and CPR training
- Manual Handling and Medication training, done at an RTO
- A registered, insured car and driver’s licence
- Good availability and flexibility to accept a wide range of shifts at different times.
